​​​​​​​Each year we welcome 30-50 students on our Adult Cello Course. The daily timetable comprises 7/8 sessions (7½ - 8½ hours) from 8.30am to 6.30/8.30pm.

 

There are daily core sessions of technique, ensemble and orchestra as well others such as individual lessons, rehearsals with piano, masterclasses, sectionals, scales and focussed technical/musical workshops.   

 

Students are placed in small groups of 3-5, based on ability (to be detailed on the application form) and will spend most of the daily timetable in these groups except for individual sessions, orchestra/large ensemble and sectionals.

The Adult Cello Course comprises:

​

• En-suite single-room with full board (residential)

• Lunch and Dinner (non-residential)

• Daily refreshments including Tea/coffee, biscuits or cake

• Daily small-group ensemble

• Daily technique

• Daily cello orchestra (differing orchestras according to ability)

• 2 individual lessons

• 2 rehearsals with piano

• Focussed technical workshops based on ability

• Sectionals

• Scales workshops

• Improvisation workshop

 

 

Advanced Students (recommended ABRSM grade 7 and above) can apply for the

‘SOLO PERFORMANCE MODULE’, which comprises:

• 1 extra individual lesson

• 1 extra rehearsal with piano

• 1 masterclass

• 1 solo performance evening

• An opportunity (by audition during the course) to perform a solo piece with cello orchestra

 

 

If you would simply like to have a extra lessons without the solo performance aspect then these will be available to order in May.

The following extras (available to all Adult Cello Course Students) are available:

• A series of 4 thirty-minute aural sessions (grades 6-8)

For residential students the price includes en-suite accommodation in single rooms and full board with a complimentary glass of wine in the adults' social area after evening meals. The non-residential price includes lunch and dinner. Tea and coffee are provided for all students throughout the day.
